It all starts with you. Be the change- and all that jazz.
Easier said than done though, no? Absolutely. Nevertheless, its always helpful when challenges arise, to first ask yourself what needs changing or developing in you. Who would you have to be, or what qualities or habits would you need to cultivate in you, to attain the outcome you want or be at peace with a situation that is out of your hands?
Why is this always helpful to consider? Because you only ever have full control over yourself- over your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and responses. So start with you first- not because you’re necessarily the problem (although in some cases you may be), but because you are the solution- or at least you can always be part of it, or key instigator of the solution.
No matter where you fall on the spectrum of objective responsibility regarding your problems, you’re always the most important player in your own life. In other words, what you think, how you feel, and what you do always matter, no matter what other peripheral characters are doing in your world.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to change the world or situations for the better- just be sure to check yourself first to ensure you’ve confronted and are fully accountable for the growth and evolution of your number one responsibility- you.
